In 2018 Tiger Brands installed a DC Norris Jet Cook system in one of the Tiger Brands food producing facilities in Cape Town, South Africa. This was part of a larger project to upgrade the manufacturing capability of the facility, to accommodate the increase in product demand.
After thorough research, the DC Norris Jet Cook System was chosen as the preferred cooking/processing system for the new facility. After numerous trials were conducted at the DC Norris test facilities in Cape Town and the UK, the specification for the system was finalised. The DC Norris Design and Process Engineering team designed a system that would comply with the Tiger Brands requirements.
The system comprises a mixing system and a two stage heating system, utilising multiple Jet Cook units. A number of different products are being produced in this system and the performance exceeded our expectation. An added advantage is that the batch preparation time is less than the original estimated preparation time.
The system is controlled with a “Recipe Manager System”, which controls all aspects of the system including mixing / processing times and product temperatures. It is very user friendly and easy to change recipe parameters. Remote assistance by the DC Norris team from their office in the UK is also available if/when required.
Process and product support, both prior and after installation has been excellent and Tiger Brands will definitely invest in more DC Norris Jet Cook System, if the need arises.

From day one of meeting with the DC Norris team it has only been a pleasure doing business with them.
Attention to detail is great – from the beginning to the end - getting to know the products and the processes – all proved to be an amazing experience.
After nearly 40 years of using our steam pots it was time to move onto the next generation of cooking.
Delivery and installation happened as agreed between ourselves. We were up and running in 4 days. It worked as promised, and more.
This was the best decision the company has made in many years.

In early 2017 we decided to extend our dairy product portfolio in Malawi to include Maheu. We searched the world for the most advanced processing system available, and following an internet search and some enquires contacted Mr. Rigby at D C Norris. It became very clear to my father and I after an initial phone conversation with Mr. Rigby that he had a great amount of both product and processing knowledge of Maheu and a meeting was arranged in Dubai to discuss our requirements further. In 2017 we purchased a Jet Cook Steam Infusion plant from DC Norris and following some initial difficulties in transportation, which DCN helped us with the system was installed and commissioned. We are very happy with the system and the products it produces at incredible speed and quality, and very simple to operate. The system is producing both traditional and flavoured Maheu as well as flavoured dairy drinks 10 times quicker than traditional systems and using less vessels, labour and energy. We are presently in discussion with DCN and Mr. Rigby on a new product we wish to run on this system, and are being assisted by them with recipe and processing information. We are delighted with our system and the support we receive from DCN in the UK.

Bells Food Group Ltd is a third generation 86 year old family wholesale bakers, and the brand leader in Scotland for pies.   As part of our on-going continuous improvement and innovation programme, in mid-2016 we arranged a meeting at DCN head office to discuss purchasing two new traditional steam jacketed vessels.  These would be for the production of pie fillings for our Hawthorn bakery in Shotts, Scotland.

During the discussion we were introduced to the Jet Cook and Braising Bar technology, and following long technical discussions we agreed to run trials with one of our products.

We ran a trial on one of our largest volume products, Steak Pie Filling at the DCN Product Development Kitchen in Great Gransden.   The Jet Cook and Braising bar demonstrated fantastic particulate integrity, and a fresher more home cooked finished product.  Shortly after the trials we ordered a 1500ltr Jet Cook System with braising bar which was installed in December 2016.

Following on-site product and process training with the DCN Jet Cook Specialist we produced several 1500kgs batches of our steak pie filling to an amazing finished product quality.  The meat retained its size and shape, and both colour and flavour were excellent.  The combination of DCN’s technology, product and process experience and can-do attitude enabled us to complete the training in two days with excellent results.  Due to the success of this installation we have now ordered a second 1500ltr system to be installed in September 2017.

The technologies developed and installed by DCN are ground breaking, and combined with their 45 years of product and process experience, make them a world class process solution provider.  We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnership with DCN.

Following the success of our other two Jet Cook Systems within the Azersun business, and the results from Condensed Milk trials carried out by Mr Rigby at our facility in Baku, a decision was made to install a third system for the production of Condensed Milk at our dairy facility in Kudimir.

We are the largest and highest quality food processing group in Azerbaijan supplying retail, food service, export markets and the Azerbaijan Armed Forces. Product quality, food safety and customer satisfaction are the most important thing to us.
The new Jet Cook System and powder entrainment replaces our old mixing vessel, powder blender and heat exchanger method of cooking condensed milk, and is more efficient and easier to clean and gives a superior finished product with much less waste. The new automated system allows us to maintain and improve our product quality whilst also reducing production time and giving us repeatability and no burn-on.

The speed the system produces a batch is incredible. The new system design is much more advanced than our old system and looks excellent within our factory and gives the operator an overall process review with the touch screen design.  
We are very happy with the product and technical knowledge of the DC Norris personnel, and their willingness to support our operators and technical staff, even after leaving the country.
It has been a great pleasure working again with Mr Rigby and his team, and we look forward to working together again in the near future.

"We purchased a Jet Cook System from DC Norris in the UK to produce a range of products including broths, meat cooks, fruit compot, soups and fruit fillings for both the Azerbaijan and international retail market places.  Following the installation we produced finished product, some of the products we were unable to produce before the system arrived. The cooking times were incredibly quick and the quality of the pieces of meat and fruit was excellent. The flexibility of the product range we can now produce is remarkable and opens a larger market place for our company both locally and internationally.


The support and quality of training given by the team was excellent, the installation of the system took only one week and included in-depth product and process training from Mr Stuart Rigby and engineering and Recipe Manager Software training from Mr Wayne Wood.  We will also be using the system to enter the catering and food service market in Azerbaijan, and following meetings with Mr Stuart Rigby and our marketing team from head office in Baku, we will be working together to develop recipes and processes for our local market using the Jet Cook Steam Infusion system.


For the future, we look forward to the return of the team to give some further advanced training, and to assist us in developing some new recipes with our marketing and process team to further develop our market and our experience."

"Following extensive trials at the DCN test kitchen we purchased our first Jet Cook System for the production of smooth, meat and particulate sauces for ready meals. The system was purchased to increase our capacity in a kitchen where space is at a premium, the system allowed us to produce our product to the same and sometimes better quality than our existing steam jacketed vessels, but at least 50% quicker.
Due to the success of the initial system we purchased another two systems within 6 months, which has almost doubled our cooking capacity and given us repeatable product quality with excellent finished product yields.
We have found the pre and post installation support from the DC Norris technical and product experts to be first class, they are working closely with our product and process development people to ensure we get the maximum benefits from our systems both now and in the future."
